Migrating our WordPress business to the Cloud

We planned an 18 month migration from our own data centre to AWS ( Amazon Web Services) in 2015 but life is not that simple. Four years later Sotic are now 100% cloud based, running some of the fastest award winning WordPress sites out there with a huge improvement in employee well being and work / social balance.

The presentation will cover:

  • Migrating from a data centre to Cloud
  • Advantages of Cloud for
    1. Scaling and up time
    2. Increasing the development Curve
    3. Security and Disaster Recovery
    4. Cost Reduction
  • How we transformed a 30 person digital agency from our old CMS and onsite servers to WordPress and Cloud
  • and how we now deliver websites that are super fast. e.g. Six Nations Rugby

An introduction to live streaming

Leo was responsible for the Live streaming of each session in three separate streams at WordCamp London 2019. In the future, once we’ve learnt how to do it, and got the necessary kit, some of our WordPress Portsmouth Meetups may also be live streamed. In the second session Leo will give us an introduction.
