WordPress Portsmouth Online Meetup – 20th October 2021 – 25 top tips from Yoast SEO for beginners

Join the WordPress Portsmouth Meetup on 20th October 2021 for 25 top tips from Yoast SEO for beginners; an introduction to Search Engine Optimization based on material freely available from Yoast’s “SEO for beginners” online course.

We’ll start with the 25 top tips, all summarised on a single page.

Then we’ll paraphrase the contents of each of the videos in the series,
hopefully taking less time than it takes to watch the video,
to allow time to hear your input on each topic.

We’ll finish with a summary that should lead to further discussion on your top tips for SEO.

The event starts at 7pm BST (6pm UTC). We will be providing a Zoom link for you to connect to the online Meetup.

To get the link, please register to attend this #OnlineWPMeetup.

WordPress 5.8 – Duotone filter

Original
Duotone filter

Forest.

Even a child knows how valuable the forest is. The fresh, breathtaking smell of trees. Echoing birds flying above that dense magnitude. A stable climate, a sustainable diverse life and a source of culture. Yet, forests and other ecosystems hang in the balance, threatened to become croplands, pasture, and plantations.

WordPress 5.8 – New blocks and patterns

Question: Can we reproduce the Past events widget, which used the bw_related shortcode with the Query Loop block?

We need to show:

  • 3 posts per page
  • of the custom post type meetup
  • ordered by descending _date
  • where the date is in the past.

Answer: TL;DR NO.

  • Yes, we can list posts from Meetup.
  • Yes, we can show 3 posts per page
  • But we can’t show the Query Pagination block
  • Sorting does not appear to work on this CPT
  • We can’t run the query against post meta data
