Call for Speakers

The WordPress Portsmouth Meetup group are looking for speakers for January 2020 onwards. If you have a WordPress related talk that you feel would be of interest to our members please contact one of the organisers by whichever means you choose: Slack, Twitter, Meetup, Email.

Our meetings in the past 12 months have been as follows

Notes:

  • Even though we are mainly about WordPress we do also cover some other web topics. e.g. copy writing, branding, GDPR, security.
  • We’re also happy to include remote speakers.
  • We enjoy a variety of formats: straight forward presentations, multi media, workshops and clinics.
  • We sometimes have a suite of lightning talks: 5-10 minutes.
  • Mostly we have one speaker; talk and Q&A taking 40 mins to one hour.

Calling all local WordPress agencies

In 2020 we want to significantly grow the WordPress Portsmouth Meetup group’s membership. We want to double the number of members; from 130 to 260.

Starting in November (2019) we’ll be writing to local WordPress agencies to:

  • let you know we exist
  • invite you to our meetups
  • invite you to get involved in the local WordPress community

If you’re part of a WordPress agency, and we haven’t written to you, and some or all of your team are interested in finding out more about the local WordPress community, then please join the Meetup group and get in touch.

And we want to increase the average attendance at our meetups

This month Graham Armfield, from Coolfields Consulting, is going to take us through a very informative presentation on accessibility. That’s something that you should be doing when you develop a client’s website. Or as Graham puts it.

It makes sense to treat accessibility as a website requirement – even if your client doesn’t specifically ask for it.
